Day 1: Bangalore Arrival, Transfer to Hampi, & Hampi Sightseeing

Upon arrival at Bangalore airport or railway station, we’ll begin the Hampi tour from Bangalore. We’ll also stop at tourist places on the way. In Hampi, transfer to your hotel and check in.

• Virupaksha Temple- Virupaksha Temple is one of the oldest continuously functioning temples in India. This Lord Shiva temple is considered the spiritual heart of Hampi. Its towering gopuram rises dramatically above the Hampi Bazaar, defining this ruined city's skyline.
• Hemakuta Hill Sunset Point- Hemakuta Hill Sunset Point offers a sweeping panorama of Hampi's boulders, historic monuments, and the Tungabhadra River in the distance. The hillock is popular also for the early Vijayanagara temples, mandapas and gateways dotting the place.
• Sasivekalu Ganesha Temple- Sasivekalu Ganesha Temple is an 8-foot-tall statue of Lord Ganesha carved out of a single rock. Set in an open-air enclosure, the statue was named for its mustard-seed-like belly (meaning Sasivekalu). Its detailing showcases the artistry of Vijayanagara-era sculptors.

Day 2: Hampi Sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, proceed for a full day of sightseeing across Hampi.

• Vittala Temple Complex (Stone Chariot)- Vittala Temple Complex is regarded as the crown jewel of Hampi. Although it’s believed to have been built by the Vijayanagara King Devaraya II, it was significantly expanded by Krishnadevaraya. The Stone Chariot in the main courtyard is its most iconic attraction.
• King's Balance- King's Balance (or Tula Bhara) is a beautifully carved weighing scale. It was once used by kings to weigh themselves against precious jewels, which were then distributed as charity. Although the balance itself is gone, the 5-metre-tall stone frame still stands like an archway.
• Purandara Dasa Mandapa- Purandara Dasa Mandapa is one of the lesser-known stops on this Bangalore Hampi Badami tour. It’s a pillared pavilion believed to be associated with Purandara Dasa. He’s a legendary poet and composer from the 15th century, recognised as the father of Carnatic music.
• Lotus Mahal- Lotus Mahal is a two-storey palace, named for the distinctive lotus-bud shape of its central dome. It’s within the Zenana Enclosure complex, which was built for the royal women of the Vijayanagara Empire. This palace is believed to have served as a space for leisure and entertainment.
• Elephant Stables- Elephant Stables are eleven chambers in an elongated structure that sheltered royal elephants. These elephants were trained for processions and festive ceremonies. Adjacent rooms served as quarters for the elephant mahouts (keepers).
• Hazara Rama Temple- Hazara Rama Temple (meaning temple of a thousand Ramas) is believed to have been the private place of worship for the royal family. Its outer walls and interior pillars are covered with a series of carved panels depicting scenes from the Ramayana.
• Stepped Tank (Pushkarni)- Stepped Tank, or Pushkarni, is one of the most striking remnants of the architectural brilliance of the Vijayanagara era. It’s a five-tiered, symmetrical tank near the Royal Enclosure. And unlike temple tanks meant for rituals, this was reserved for royal or ceremonial use.
• Queen's Bath- Queen's Bath is a large, ornate bathing structure built by the Vijayanagara king Achyuta Raya. It encloses a rectangular pool surrounded by arched corridors and projecting balconies. It’s believed to have served as the private bathing chamber of the king and his queens.

Day 3: Transfer to Badami & Sightseeing

After breakfast at the hotel, check out and proceed to Hampi sightseeing before a drive to Badami. In Badami, transfer to your hotel and check in.

Hampi Sightseeing

• Lakshmi Narasimha Statue- Lakshmi Narasimha Statue (also Ugra Narasimha) is the largest monolithic sculpture in Hampi. It depicts Lord Narasimha (half-man, half-lion avatar of Vishnu) in a meditative posture, with the serpent Sheshnaag over him. Goddess Lakshmi was carved on the lap, but it was destroyed.
• Badavilinga Temple- Badavilinga Temple is a small but remarkable shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. Badavi means poor woman, and it’s said that a poor woman from a village commissioned the temple. The Shivalinga inside stands about 3 metres tall, and it’s perpetually submerged in water.
• Underground Shiva Temple- Underground Shiva Temple (or Prasanna Virupaksha Temple) is one of the oldest temples in the region. It’s popular for its unique sanctum, which sits a few metres below ground level. Much of it is submerged partly in water throughout the year.

Badami Sightseeing

• Badami Cave Temples (Caves 1–4)- Badami Cave Temples are among the finest examples of early Chalukya rock-cut caves. Carved into a sandstone cliff, these four caves are dedicated to Hindu and Jain beliefs. They’re the heart of Badami’s heritage, making them a must-visit on a Bangalore Hampi Badami tour.
• Agastya Lake- Agastya Lake is a sacred tank at the foot of the Badami cliffs. It’s enclosed on three sides by the sandstone hills from which the cave temples are carved. Its surroundings offer a serene, visually mesmerising view of the Badami landscape.

• Pattadakal Group of Monuments- Pattadakal Group of Monuments is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with a cluster of Hindu and Jain Temples. The site has ten major temples and numerous small shrines built in the 7th and 8th centuries. They showcase both the Dravidian and the Nagara architectural styles.

Aihole Sightseeing

• Aihole Durga Temple Complex- Aihole Durga Temple Complex is one of the most distinctive structures to see on this Bangalore Hampi Badami Tour. Although it’s called Durga Temple, Goddess Durga isn’t the presiding deity. It used to be part of a fort (durga) complex, which is why it’s referred to as such.
• Lad Khan Temple- Lad Khan Temple is one of the oldest Hindu temples among the group of historical monuments in Aihole. It’s believed to have been built in the 5th century for Lord Vishnu. However, the shrine now houses a Shivalinga with a Nandi bull alongside it.
• Ravana Phadi Cave Temple- Ravana Phadi Cave Temple is a rock-cut temple that dates to the early Chalukya period. The cave houses several finely carved sculptures of Shiva-Parvati, Lord Ganesha and others. An exclusive relief of Nataraja (a dancing form of Shiva) is also an attraction here.

Badami Sightseeing

• Banashankari Amma Temple- Banashankari Amma Temple is a pilgrimage site dedicated to Goddess Banashankari, a fierce form of Parvati. It’s believed to have been built by the Kalyani Chalukya kings in the 7th century. However, the architecture is also influenced by Dravidian, Vijayanagara and Islamic styles.
• Bhutanatha Group of Temples- Bhutanatha Group of Temples is a bunch of sandstone temples, all dedicated to Lord Shiva. They were built near Agastya Lake in two phases. The East group was built in the Dravida style during the 7th-8th centuries, while the North group in the Nagara style during the 11th-12th centuries.

Day 5: Return to Bangalore, Bangalore Sightseeing & Departure
