And thus, reaching Red hills will not be a problem. From Bangalore it is at a distance of approximately 286 km and can be reached in around 6 to 7 hours.

Red Hills got it name from a British Colonel during the colonial era. Sir Willie Collins coined the name on the name of his residence back in Britain which has the same name. Sir Willie Collins was the owner of 125 years old British bungalow on the hill station which is now a major attraction and has been converted into a family resort.

What makes Red Hills even more special is the presence of eight different beautifying the hill station in the best way possible. Emerald, Upper Bhavani, Avalanche, Porthimund, Parson’s Valley Lake and Western catchments numbered 1, 2 and 3 are the eight serene lakes on the hill station creating a setting so refreshing and calm. If in a mood, you can even try fishing in these lakes and catch some Carp and trout which are plenty in numbers in these lakes while enjoying a relaxed time with your loved ones. Along with this, you can spot umpteen number of birds around these lakes.

The mesmerising natural setting created by these lakes is perfect to spend few memorable moments in calm and tranquillity. This provides a much needed peace after week’s work and pressures. The Govind Ballabh Pant Zoo near the Lake District adds on to the charm of the place. Exotic fauna such as Bengal tiger, elephants, and monkeys are seen in the zoo making for an interesting trip.

Red Hill Resort:The Red Hills nature resorts is situated at a height of 7,000 ft in a hillock. It is quite popular because of the extra ordinary location and the natural beauty around it. Being near Mukurthi National Park in Tamil Nadu and with a wonderful view of Lake Emerald, one of eight lakes near the resort, it offers comfort as well a setting which is incomparable when it comes to beauty. It charming tea gardens are an add on to the overall experience.

The resort is being run by a family who acquired the place in the 1930s. As you enter the resort, you will be greeted with a antique setting full of age old furniture, curios and umpteen number of books. It is an apt place for tourists who looking for some quality time with nature be it nature lovers, trekkers, anglers, birdwatchers and wildlife enthusiasts.

The resort is open for guests during the months from mid-August to mid-June.

Although the climate at Red Hills is pleasant through the year making it an all time favourite weekend destination. Apart from teh monsoon season which sees heavy rainfall, you can plan your trip anytime.

It is recommended to visit during Red hills from September to May to experience the most out of your holidays.

By Air:The nearest airport to Red Hills is Coimbatore airport which is at a distance of 100 kms. You have a number of airline options to choose from. It is well connected to the rest of the country and most of the main cities such as Chennai, Bangalore, Madurai and Hyderabad. After reaching Coimbatore you can take pre-paid taxi to Red hills.

By train:Nearest railway station to Red Hills is Mettupalayam, which is 40 km. You have regular rail services from Coimbatore and Chennai to Mettupalayam, from where you can take taxis to Red Hills.
