Located in the Shivajinagar, St. Mary's Basilica captivates visitors from everywhere. It is adjacent to the Russel Market. In the year 1818, it was built as a small chapel which was later renovated into a Church boasting of extensive Gothic styled carvings. The credit of this goes to Reverend L.E. Kleiner. However, the Church again got a facelift in 1882 when various tainted glass windows which were imported from Paris were added. It was again refurbished in the year of 1947.

However, the statue of Basilica came to this Church by 1973, which is not kept in glass cabinet. Earlier, this statue used to be taken out to streets for a small parade but because of a few issues it was stopped later. There have been many miracles associated with this Church which is why it has gained the holy status of Basilica by the Papal Order by Pope John Paul VI in the year of 1973.
