Although the climate is pleasant throughout the year to visit the resort. However, during summer, that is March, April and May, climate can be slightly warm and between June and September, the area sees heavy rainfall.

By Road: The lodge is just 38 kms away from Shimoga. The route one can take from Bangalore to River tern lodge is: Bangalore - Tumkur bye pass to shimoga - Gubbi - Tiptur - Arsikere - kadur - Birur - Tarikere. At Tarikere take left to travel to lakkavalli.
